Medic Mobile brings together evidence-based workflows for community health workers, facility staff, and managers.
The tools help ensure safe births, track outbreaks, treat illnesses door-to-door, keep stock of essential medicines, communicate about emergencies, and more. We know that in practice, health workers provide care and services for people. By combining the use cases described below, the toolkit can support comprehensive healthcare delivery. We have designed the software to support a team- based approach to healthcare delivery and management, allowing users in different roles to work together to deliver care.
We aspire to increase coverage and improve equity for essential services in health systems, reducing maternal and neonatal mortality, improving child health, and strengthening community health systems. Through years of human-centered design alongside health workers, research, and implementation experience, we have identified specific uses for the software tools that improve health in communities.
People delivering care deserve the best software
Medic Mobile combines decision support for doorstep care, prioritization for home visits and follow-ups, messaging, and actionable analytics for managers. The tools we build are free, open-source, and deployed at scale in the hardest-to-reach areas. Evidence-based workflows come together in the software to support health workers and families – helping to ensure safe deliveries, track outbreaks, screen and treat illnesses door-to-door, communicate about emergencies, and more.
We work on the Medic Mobile smartphone app
The mobile app for Android is a powerful, impactful, and easy-to-use tool for health workers delivering care and support in communities. It can be used by community health workers, skilled birth attendants, or field managers on supervisory visits. The app delivers a best-in-class user experience, even in the most challenging environments.
SMS-based tools for community health workers
For health workers working in communities with weak internet or mobile data connectivity, Medic Mobile harnesses SMS as a communication and data channel. Through the use of familiar basic phones, health workers can register patients, send short forms, receive reminders for visits and follow-ups, and communicate directly and quickly with facility workers.
Medic Mobile web app for nurses and facility staff
The Medic Mobile web app was designed for last-mile facilities and management offices. It can be hosted locally or in the cloud, and runs on desktops, laptops, tablets, or smartphones.
